Slit coil, cut to length and coil ID
Coil ships full width, slit to strip, or cut to length. Slitting and shearing are done at the mill before packing.
- Slit coil: from 100 mm strip up to full width, slit after temper so the temper on the certificate is the temper on the strip
- Cut to length: sheet lengths sheared to your setting, stacked and packed for a forklift, not a decoiler
- Coil ID: 505 mm as standard, other IDs quoted to your mandrel
- Width: the aluminum coil width you order is the width that leaves the mill, from 100 mm slit strip to 2,500 mm full coil
- Coil weight: set to the coil weight your decoiler or cut-to-length line is rated for, and recorded on the packing list
- Edge and surface: slit edge or deburred, PVC film on the visible face where the finish calls for it
- One document set: heat and coil numbers carried through to the packing list and the MTC
Where the coil goes — roofing, jacketing, gutters, panels
Recent coil programs have shipped to India and the Middle East, with trial and repeat volumes going to Brazil.
- Roofing and cladding: 3003 and 3105 coil, mill finish or painted, roll formed on site. See the building and roofing page
- Insulation jacketing: 1060 / 1100 / 3003 at 0.3–0.8 mm, wrapped over pipe and tank lagging in refineries and plants
- Gutters and downpipes: 5052 H32, formed and painted in one pass
- Shelter and container panels: 3003 wide coil to 2,500 mm. See the shelter and container program
- Silo and tank bodies: 5754 and 5083 H111 / H112. See the silo and tank plate page
- Railway bodies and transport interiors: 5754 and 5052, welded and painted
- Road signs and signage: 3003 and 3105 painted coil for flat lamination
- Light fixtures and reflectors: mirror finish 1050 and 1070, and deep-drawn reflectors cut as aluminum circle blanks
- Caps, closures and packaging: cap stock in 8011, 3104 and 3105 for wine, soft drinks and cosmetics
- PS / CTP printing base: 1050 and 1060 coil with the flatness the plate needs
- Refrigerator liners and interior decoration: embossed aluminum coil in 1xxx and 3xxx
Coil tempers — bend radius, dent resistance and formability
Temper changes yield strength and how tight a bend the metal will take. It does not change stiffness: Young’s modulus is the same for every temper of a given alloy.
| Temper | What it means | Where it is used |
|---|---|---|
| O | Annealed, softest condition | Deep drawing, spun parts, heavy forming |
| H12 / H14 | Quarter hard / half hard | H14 gives the tighter bend radius on roll-formed roofing and panel work |
| H16 / H18 | Higher strain hardening | Higher yield and better dent resistance, with less forming margin |
| H22 / H24 / H26 | Annealed then strain-hardened | Similar strength to H1x with more formability left in the metal |
| H32 / H34 / H38 | Strain-hardened and stabilised | 5xxx coil that keeps its properties after forming and in service |
| H42 / H44 / H46 / H48 | Painted and coated coil tempers | Building panels, road signs, appliance trim |
| H111 / H112 | Slightly strain-hardened | Wide 5xxx coil that still has to be rolled and welded |
| F temper | As fabricated, no property limit specified | Casting coil for cast and machined parts |
Coil production, inspection and export packing
5,000+ tonnes a year moves through these lines across plate, sheet and coil programs. Coil is rolled on the mill schedule we plan ourselves; outside sourcing is the exception, when a gauge is needed faster than that schedule allows.
- One route: casting and hot rolling through cold rolling, annealing, slitting and cut-to-length
- Temper and gauge: verified before slitting; heat and coil numbers are carried through to the packing list and the MTC
- MTC per heat: measured tensile, yield and elongation, with heat and coil numbers carried to the packing list
- Third-party inspection: SGS, TÜV or BV, or your own inspector at the mill — scope and cost by arrangement
- Packing: coil on heat-treated timber skids to ISPM 15, eye horizontal or vertical as you unload, wrapped and strapped
- Lead time: 25–35 days to mill schedule; stock and standard widths ship from 3 tonnes
- Container planning: coil weights and diameters set so a mixed gauge order fills one container
Aluminum coil FAQ
What is the widest aluminum coil you can supply?
2,500 mm is the widest we have shipped, on 3003. Narrower gauges and 5xxx coil run at the widths your line handles, and anything from 100 mm up can be slit from a wider coil.
Can you slit coil to my strip width?
Yes. Slitting is done after temper, to the width your decoiler or roll former is set for. Tell us the strip width and the coil ID your mandrel takes and we will quote both together.
Do you have a minimum order quantity?
No MOQ on project specs. A single trial coil of a new gauge is quoted the same way as a full container. Stock and commodity lots ship from 3 tonnes.
What will the MTC show?
One mill test certificate per heat, issued by AOYIN per heat, with measured tensile, yield and elongation plus the heat and coil number. Composition to EN 573-3, mechanical values reported to EN 485-2 or ASTM B209.
How long does delivery take?
25–35 days to mill schedule for made-to-order gauge and width. Standard widths already in stock ship sooner, and we will tell you which case yours is in the quote.
Can a third-party inspector check the coil before shipment?
Yes. SGS, TÜV or BV, or your own inspector at the mill. Scope and cost are by arrangement, and we confirm in writing what can be issued before you order.
Do you supply painted, mirror or embossed coil?
All three: painted coil in H42 to H48 tempers, mirror finish in 1050 to 3003, embossed coil in 1xxx and 3xxx. Surface is decided with the alloy, not after it.
Are you an aluminum coil manufacturer or a trading company?
AOYIN is the name on your order, packing list and MTC — that is the part that counts if something goes wrong. Melting, casting and rolling run on the mills we ship from; those are the mills buyers walk with us. Cutting, levelling, slitting, kitting and export packing run on our own floor. Both routes are open to inspection before you commit.
Are 7075 and 2024 available in coil?
Not as coil grades. Those run as sheet and plate on aerospace programs, and we handle them on the 7075 sheet and honeycomb page.
Coil is one line — the rest of the program
Most projects mix coil with another form. They can ship on one order and one certificate set.
- Aluminum sheet: 0.2–6 mm, cut to length or blanked to your drawing
- Aluminum plate: 3–50 mm for tooling, marine and structural work
- Aluminum circle: round disc blanks cut from coil, for cookware, reflectors and deep-drawn parts
- Aluminum profile: 6060 / 6063 / 6061 / 6082 extrusions with custom die tooling
- Marine grade sheet and plate: 5083 H116 / H321 for hull, deck and superstructure
